Murdo Macdonald explores Ardkinglas Gardens in Argyll. Murchadh D貌mhnallach a鈥檆ur e貌las air G脿rradh 脌ird Chonghlais ann an Earra-Ghaidheal.

Green-fingered Murdo Macdonald visits some of the country鈥檚 most important gardens to explore their design, plant-life, setting and history.

Murdo is in Ardkinglas on the banks of Loch Fyne in Argyll. In the House Gardens, he finds out about the model railway that used to run along the lochside, and wanders around the azaleas which are bursting with colour in the Ladies鈥 Garden. He walks up to the Old Mill by the river, then explores the champion trees and rhododendron collection in the Woodland Garden.

Roddy Maclean talks about the folklore associated with bluebells and Dr Mark Newman from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh tells us more about the process of hybridising rhododendrons.

Tha g脿irneilear sgileil, Murchadh D貌mhnallach, a鈥 tadhal air cuid de gh脿rraidhean m貌ra na h-Alba, a鈥檆oimhead air an cruth, na tha f脿s unnta agus an eachdraidh.

Sa phr貌gram seo tha Murchadh a鈥檛adhal air 脌rd Chonghlais air bruach Loch F矛ne ann an Earra-Ghaidheal. Ann an G脿rradh an Taighe cluinnidh e mun mheanbh-r猫ile a b鈥櫭燽haist a bhi ruith ri taobh an locha, agus gabhaidh e cuairt a-measg a h-uile dath azalea ann an G脿rradh nam Ban. Ruigidh e an t-Seann Mhuilleann ri taobh na h-aibhne, mus t猫id e choimhead nan s脿r-chraobh agus na rhododendron ann an G脿rradh na Coille.

Bruidhnidh Ruairidh MacIlleathain air a鈥檅heul-aithris timchioll air br貌g-na-cuthaige, agus cluinnidh sinn barrachd bhon Oll. Mark Newman bho Gh脿rradh Luibheanach R矛oghail Dh霉n-脠idinn, mu tar-ghineadh nan rhododendron.
