Stephen Sackur talks to Dr Abdullah Abdullah, the main challenger in the flawed Afghan elections, and asks whether his decision to withdraw may have made the Afghan crisis worse.
Hamid Karzai is staring his second term of office as president of Afghanistan. However, the election process was deeply flawed, ending when his main challenger, Dr Abdullah Abdullah, pulled out of the second round run off ballot. Stephen Sackur asks Dr Abdullah whether, at a time when leaders in Washington and London are considering whether to commit further troops to Afghanistan, his decision may have made the Afghan crisis even worse.
