The winners of the 2008 New Songwriters Scheme have been announced. Congratulations to;
Rokhsan Heydari, who will be mentored by Sacha Skarbeck
Hazel Tratt, who will be mentored by Glenn Skinner
Jonno Wright, who will be mentored By John McLaughlin
Joachim Walker and Africa Fuentes, who will each get a day with Niara Scarlett.

What was on offer?
 Working with and the (BAC&S), we were looking to give aspiring new songwriters their big break.
We were offering 60 finalists a place on a two day master class, from which up to five winners were given the incredible, once-in-a lifetime opportunity to be mentored and work on original material with chart-topping songwriters.
听
All songs were assessed by members of the BAC&S, then 60 finalists were invited to one of the four masterclasses during January and February 2008.
All finalists were assessed during their masterclass days. The overall winners were chosen based on these assessments, their original song and their entry form. The jury included the mentors and representatives of the 91福利社 and BAC&S who ran the masterclasses.
The winners chosen from the masterclasses will be mentored by a leading UK songwriter for a day in a professional studio.

What were we looking for?
We were looking for aspiring songwriters (individuals or groups) with skills that could be developed, people who were genuinely looking for a career in songwriting, people who were open to collaboration and those who enjoy the creative process.
We wanted original material which would appeal to a mainstream audience.
