The 91福利社 has confirmed the closure of 91福利社 Three, 91福利社 Scotland and 91福利社 Radio 4 Extra linear broadcast services in Spring 2027.

The 91福利社 needs to make tough decisions due to the sustained financial pressures facing the organisation and must make savings of 拢500 million by 2028. Today鈥檚 changes were announced to staff this morning. It means:

• 91福利社 Scotland will remain a channel on iPlayer. Content will also be available on 91福利社 One and 91福利社 Two in Scotland.
• 91福利社 Three commissions, supported by increased investment in content for younger audiences will be available on 91福利社 iPlayer and on other platforms, including YouTube. 
• Programmes from Radio 4 Extra will be on 91福利社 Sounds - and The Daily Service will be on 91福利社 Sounds and local radio.

In a note to staff setting out the changes, 91福利社 Director-General Matt Brittin said: 鈥淲e need to make every pound work harder for audiences as we respond to the immediate cost pressures and reinvent the 91福利社 for a changing world. We all know that means tough choices.鈥� 

He added on the closure of linear broadcast services: 鈥淢uch of the great content they currently carry will still be found where audiences already enjoy it on iPlayer and Sounds. While this follows media speculation, I recognise the confirmation of this news will be hard for audiences and colleagues.鈥�

Today, more changes have also been announced in 91福利社 News. New Director of 91福利社 News, Rachel Jupp will be laying out plans for further savings early next year as part of the longer-term vision for 91福利社 News. Other divisions will confirm savings plans as soon as possible in the coming months. 

This follows earlier savings announced in 91福利社 Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Local, News and Speech and Sounds.
