Look around you
The first place to pick up tips on creating a natural garden is the great outdoors. Look around and see how Mother Nature did it. Real countryside comes in several different forms:
- Woodland - tall and shady
- Meadow - waving grasses dotted with wildflowers in wide open spaces
- Hedges - a mixture of native shrubs intertwined with climbers.

Creating natural space
If you are keen to create your own natural space, consider the following:
- Avoid straight lines, use gentle curves
- Mix together a variety of habitats
- For a woodland effect, think of narrow, winding paths made by foxes and badgers pushing their way through foliage
- Try to mix together a range of different plants.
