Complaint
During this edition of Newscast, Laura Kuenssberg referred to "the hideous chants about the IDF at Glastonbury". A listener complained it was not the role of a presenter or the 91福利社 to make a judgement of that kind and that a 91福利社 broadcast should not be used to express such a view. The ECU considered whether the remarks met the standards of impartiality set out in the 91福利社鈥檚 Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
The 91福利社 is entitled to take a view of its own output, and to broadcast or publish that view. In this instance, the output in question had already been condemned in strong terms by the Chairman of the 91福利社 Board and the Director-General. Ms Kuenssberg鈥檚 comment was well within the range of views licenced by that condemnation and not a breach of the Guidelines.
