Complaint
A reader complained the headline to this article wrongly suggested a whistleblower had been sacked for disclosures about Jaguar Land Rover. The ECU considered whether the article met the standards for accuracy set out in the Editorial Guidelines.
Outcome
The ECU agreed the original headline was misleading. It implied the whistleblower was raising concerns about issues at Jaguar Land Rover when, in fact, as the article made clear his concerns lay elsewhere. The headline was amended a few days after the article was published to read 鈥淓lectric car whistleblower sacked by Jaguar Land Rover鈥 and a note subsequently added to the article to explain the reason why. Notwithstanding the fact that the explanation for the change was very delayed, the ECU considered this sufficient to consider the case had been properly dealt with.
