 Teairra's debut track Make Her Feel Good (see above) uses a sample of Eric B & Rakim's My Melody. She wasn't born when that classic came out.
Signed by Roc-A-Fella Records, Jay-Z gave her the title, Princess of the Roc.
From Detroit, she says, "It's just fly, and I love it. Our swagger, the way we dress - everything is so different and laid back."
She first sang solo aged 12, in church.
At the same time she started making demos in her cousin's basement.
Teairra's grandmother, Veronica Lake (not the 40s film star of the same name) was a 'gospel-belter' and once sang backing vocals for Aretha Franklin.
She won't be able to drink legally in the USA until December 2008.
