91福利社 - Catchphrase - Ysbyty Brynaber - Week 65

Week 65 - Main grammatical points

Commands

In the scene on the boat, Arwyn, Brian and Jac use a number of if command forms. Let's have a look at them:

Gwranda - Listen
Helpa fi - Help me
Dala ei law - Hold his hand

These three forms illustrate the regular form for second person singular commands
Generally -a is added to the stem of the verb:

edrych - edrycha (look)
brysio - brysia (hurry)
meddwl - meddylia (think)

And as we heard in the dialogue
gwrando - gwranda
helpu - helpa
dal - dala in South Wales/dalia in North Wales
Note that some verbs just use the stem of the verb

Cau dy geg Shut up (literally, shut your mouth)
Gollwng y gwn Let go of the gun or drop the gun
