REMEMBERING ALBERT
By Lester Simpson
Lester鈥檚 perspective on the First World War was changed for ever when he went on a trip to Belgium in 1994.

After being booked to perform music near to the scene of a bloody battle which took place in 1917, Lester remembered hearing of a relative who lost his life there. And some research soon revealed that man to be Lester's great uncle Corporal Albert Scrimshaw of the Ox and Bucks Light Infantry.

Now after returning from another trip to Belgium, Lester reflects on the human cost of that 'war to end all wars' and sadly notes that those who survived the bitter conflict are becoming thin on the ground.
