A superb Simon Lowe as Dudley is the focal point of the play set in an 80's chat show, with questions being asked by an hilarious Alexandar Kirk as host Tony Ferguson. On the night I was at the New Wolsey Cook's usual actor Gareth Tunley was ill, but Asa Joel made and an excellent replacement.

The play is slick as it moves in and out of the chat show to reenact memories and sketches from the previous 20 years of their partnership.

The questions range from Cook and Moore's burst onto the comedy scene in 1960 at the Edinburgh Fringe festival to the sad times during the early/mid 80's where Moore's career as an actor is booming whilst Cook's is coming to an end.

Lowe delivers lines and expressions expertly and Dudley's vulnerability shines through. Cook's nature, genius and eventual resentment of Moore is very well portrayed.

Each section of their material is covered from Beyond the Fringe, Pete and Dud and Derek and Clive and was well chosen to reflect the relationship between the two during such a large time span.

Awaiting the end of the world

As a fan I would have liked more sketches as I felt Cook's brilliance was not truly recognised. If I had half the wit of Cook, I would be Lenny Henry.

On the whole though it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening and would definitely go again.
