In 2003 91福利社 Radio Drama celebrated both the fiftieth anniversary of what is now the annual Carleton Hobbs Bursary Award, and the first year of a new acting initiative, the Norman Beaton Fellowship.
Together these two radio awards are celebrated under Radio Drama’s umbrella title for its acting initiatives : (((soundstart))).
In 2003 via these two bursaries, Radio Drama welcomed seven new actors to five-month contracts with the Radio Drama Company.
As well as work undertaken via the two acting events, (((soundstart))) initiatives include:

The Carleton Hobbs Bursary Award
An event aimed at students from accredited drama schools across the country, it offers the winners the opportunity to become part of the next season's Radio Drama company.
The Norman Beaton Fellowship
Aimed at actors from non-traditional training backgrounds and particularly to entrants from groups currently under-represented in Radio Drama.
