 Timeline of Events
- Friday 5th November 1688 – William of Orange invades England.
- 1715 – Jacobite rising of James Francis Stuart. The rising fails
- Saturday 21st Dec 1720 – Charles Edward Stuart or "Bonnie Prince Charlie" is born in Rome, Italy.
- Friday 23rd July 1745 – Bonnie Prince Charlie arrives on the Scottish island of Eriskay.
- Thursday 19th August 1745 – Bonnie Prince Charlie raises the Jacobite flag at Glenfinnan.
- Friday 20th September 1745 – The Battle of Prestonpans. The Jacobites win!
- Monday 8th November 1745 – Jacobites cross the border into England.
- Monday 15th November 1745 – Jacobite army captures the town of Carlisle.
- Tuesday 23rd November 1745 – The Duke of Cumberland is made leader of the British armies and sent to defeat the Jacobites.
- Saturday 4th Dec 1745 – The Jacobite army reaches the town of Derby in England.
- Sunday 5th Dec 1745 – the Jacobite chiefs decide to go back to Scotland rather than attack London. Bonnie Prince Charlie is furious! He wants to attack London!
- Tuesday 21st Dec 1745 Jacobites cross the border back into Scotland. Bonnie Prince Charlie is 25 years old today!
- Monday 17th January 1746 – The Battle of Falkirk. The Jacobites beat the British army force!
- Wednesday 16th February 1746 – The Route of Moy. The British government try to capture Bonnie Prince Charlie in a surprise attack at Moy. It fails.
- Wednesday 2nd March 1746 – Bonnie Prince Charlie sets up his base at Inverness.
- Friday 15th April 1746 – The night march to Nairn. The Jacobites try a surprise attack on the Duke of Cumberland and his men. It fails. It is also the Duke's 25 th birthday!
- Saturday 16th April 1746 – The Battle of Culloden! The Jacobites lose and Bonnie Prince Charlie runs away!
- Thursday 16th June 1746 – Bonnie Prince Charlie meets Flora MacDonald on the Isle of Skye. She helps him to escape by dressing him as a woman!
- Monday 19th September 1746 – After months of hiding, Bonnie Prince Charlie escapes by boat to France. He leaves his Jacobite friends and soldiers behind!
- Monday 21st January 1788 – Bonnie Prince Charlie dies in Rome. He dies in the same room he was born in! He was 68 years old.
