Is the Government doing enough to support victims of violence?
The End Violence Against Women Coalition has said in its annual report that that too much of the government鈥檚 progress on dealing with violence against women, remains limited to pilot projects with short term funding.听They say this听dislocation at the top of government is reflected in fractured services on the ground. The number of rape crisis centres has听nearly halved in the last two decades. Some of these specialist centres face closure, but the Government has just stepped in with 拢1 million of emergency funding. So, is this a short term reprieve or the beginning of a more co-ordinated approach to dealing with violence against women?
