1960s London - Jan Paasman

I was born in 1947 in Epe in the Netherlands and visited Britain for the first time in the summer of 1965. With a friend I spent my -low budget- summer holidays in London. London really impressed me. Buildings, people, traffic, everything was very exciting. I came back to London in 1966, 1967, 1968, 1969 etc. with different friends; I wanted all my friends to see London. Especially 1966 and 1967 were great. People looked happy. Not only youngsters from many countries, fashionably dressed, but also elderly English people seemed to be in a positive mood. The music of Jimi Hendrix, the Stones, the Beatles, the Kinks and others was omnipresent and set the atmosphere. It had a very positive impact!
