This was an idyllic place without running water or electricity where the haystacks were kept solely for the chickens to nest in and the meadow behind us in the picture was sown only with grain for them to eat. He had four cows and two big white horses who were brothers and never used for farm work in their lives. The farm was sold in 1967 when Uncle Jack's brother died and he could no longer run it on his own...for £4500 with about 30 acres! The car was built in 1946 by the British Army in the rebuilt factory in Wolfsburg which was run by the British after 1945. We had it from April 10th 1956 until April 30th 1962 when, in what would now be "concours condition", we sold it for £125!! Sadly I believe it was scrapped around 1971/2. | LISTEN AGAINUse the links below to listen again to the latest Radio 2 60s Season programmes. LINKSon /radio2
