Refugee Action

is a national charity that has worked for 45 years to help refugees and people seeking asylum rebuild safe, stable and dignified lives in the UK. The charity provides support with food, housing, legal advice and a community that makes somewhere feel like home.

Saeed’s first months in the UK

Saeed’s first months in the UK
Saeed, not his real name, was a journalist who fled to the UK after threats against his young son. Their temporary accommodation had walls black with mould, and a leaking bathroom. They had little money for food and no one to turn to.

'Saeed' is portrayed by an actor to protect his identity.

The small things that changed everything

The small things that changed everything
Refugee Action support workers help people rebuild their lives when they arrive in the UK. From arranging food vouchers and school places to helping families settle into their homes, they make sure people don't face challenges alone.

The community Saeed now calls home

The community Saeed now calls home
Through Refugee Action’s group sessions and volunteer programme, Saeed found a community that understood what he’d been through. He arrived with almost nothing, but now the street he walks down every day is filled with people he calls friends.
