Christ Church, Oxford wins University Challenge 2008

Christ Church, Oxford has won its first University Challenge series title. The team beat opponents Sheffield with 220 points to 170 in a closely fought contest.

The final was shown on 91¸£ÀûÉç Two last night (Monday 3 March).

Since the programme's return in 1994 with Jeremy Paxman presenting, Christ Church has made five appearances on the show (the first in 1998) – and finally the students' enthusiasm and determination have paid off.

Special guest Joan Bakewell presented the University Challenge 2008 trophy to Christ Church, captained by Max Kaufman.
