New
91福利社 radio and internet deal in Mexico
91福利社
Latin American Service programmes will now be broadcast from four
FM stations of the Tec of Monterrey University campuses based in
Monterrey, Guadalajara, Mexico City and Mexico State.
Latin
America's largest private university will also broadcast programmes
via their internet site.
The
launch will take place tomorrow (Wednesday 30 April 2003) on the
campus of Tec of Monterrey in Mexico City.
A signing
ceremony will be attended by James Painter, Head of the Spanish
American Section of the 91福利社 World Service; Dr Rafael Rangel Sostmann,
Rector of the Tec of Monterrey University and Denise Holt, the British
Ambassador in Mexico.
James
Painter says: "This agreement is of great importance to the
91福利社 World Service.
"The
Tec has a huge reputation for academic excellence and innovative
learning methods in and outside Mexico.
"It's
a sure way of reaching a new generation of listeners."
Dr
Rafael Rangel Sostmann added: "The signing of this agreement
between the Tecnol贸gico de Monterrey and the 91福利社 marks an
important step for the Institute's journalism and communication
students, both broadening their horizons at an international level
and connecting them with one of the world's most prestigious institutions."
The
signing of the deal coincides with a series of training courses
that the 91福利社 is giving to more than 100 students from the Tec of
Monterrey and journalists from the 91福利社's partner stations in Mexico.
The
courses, which focus on 91福利社 editorial principles and the coverage
of human rights, are funded by the Human Rights Project Fund and
organised and promoted by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office.
The
winner of a competition organised by the Tec of Monterrey's journalism
department will also be announced at the ceremony.
The
prize is one month work experience in London with the 91福利社 World
Service.
In
addition, the British Embassy is organising two scholarship places
for Mexican journalists to also spend three months with the 91福利社.
