And if this is the case, you've no doubt wondered what it's like inside. Well, so have we - so we went to find out... RAF Fylingdales has been in operation for around 40 years. It was built as an early warning station during the cold war to detect a potential nuclear attack. Like most military installations the base isn't open to the public and has tight security to prevent trespass.
