Can the date on this photo be correct ?
YOUR RESPONSES
Chris Baker - June '05
The date possibly indicates that this was a group of
men of a unit of the Territorial Force, on their annual
summer camp. The part time soldiers of the TF had a
fortnight's camp as part of their training. For many
of them, it was the nearest thing they had to a holiday.
Oxney Farm was near Borden in Hampshire, a large military
training facility. It is not easy to tell which regiment
they are, but the cap badges and white lanyards may
indicate Royal Field Artillery.
