San Fran fair
Formed by Christopher Owens and JR White, San Francisco's The Girls create a blend of psychedelic modern folk rock that captured the ears of revered indie label Matador.
As the main songwriter, Owens was born into the Children of God cult and travelled around the states until he was 16 busking with the collective before he managed to break away. Former Fleetwood Mac guitarist and cult member Jeremy Spencer gave Owens his first guitar.
Meeting up with his co founder in San Francisco JR, both members embarked on making the music that forms their debut, simply called Album. They make their Reading and Leeds debut on the NME/Radio 1 stage with their West Coast influenced indie pop.
